When you have bad credit it limits what type of financing you can get. Car loans for bad credit are not hard to come by, but you need to know what your options are and what you will be getting yourself into.
Your first option is to save up around $3,000 to put down on a car. If you have that much to put down many dealers will work with you regardless of your credit. They see the large down payment as a commitment and they know you are not going to want to lose your car that you already put $3,000 into.
The next option is a company like American General. This company along with a few other are set up to give loans to those with bad credit. They just require that you have something on your credit that you have been paying on time for at least 6 months. This can be a credit card or another loan of some sort.
The last option is to use a buy here pay here car lot. This should be your last resort and if you have to go for the buy here pay here option then you need to find a dealer that will offer you a warranty of some sort and will not sell you a junk car. Have the car checked out before you buy it to be sure you are getting a good car.
You can use one of these three car loans for bad credit options to get into a car. Make sure you pay your car payments on time and you will see your credit get better and better. Plus if a dealer sees that you paid your car off and were never late, then you will have an easier time getting a car the next time you need one.
